New allegations have raised questions about the final days of Giorgos Mazonakis’ beloved dog, Aritha, who died on September 17, 2025, less than a year before the Greek singer’s own death.

According to a report published by Greek outlet eReportaz on September 16, a complaint submitted to the publication claims that Aritha suffered from a serious health condition and required specific medication.

The complaint alleges that the medication was not administered during the period when Mazonakis was being treated at Dromokaiteio psychiatric hospital.

The claim has not been independently verified, and it remains unclear whether any failure to administer medication occurred or whether it was connected to Aritha’s subsequent deterioration and death.

Aritha held a special place in Mazonakis’ life. The singer had adopted her as a stray following the devastating wildfires in eastern Attica and frequently shared moments with her on social media.

He had also spoken publicly about the deep bond they shared, describing her as a profoundly important presence in his life.

In a previous interview, Mazonakis said Aritha had helped him learn how to love and connect with people.

“When she left, she destroyed me,” he said, while also expressing his belief that a veterinarian had been responsible for a “tragic mistake” in her treatment.

Mazonakis was discharged from Dromokaiteio on August 18, 2025, following a short period of hospitalisation.

Aritha died approximately one month later, on September 17.

The new allegation therefore raises a specific question: whether the alleged interruption of medication occurred and, if so, whether it played any role in the deterioration of Aritha’s health.

At this stage, there is no established evidence in the report demonstrating a causal connection between the alleged failure to administer medication and Aritha’s death.

The claims come as scrutiny continues surrounding the circumstances of Mazonakis’ own death and the medical treatment he received before his death in September 2026.

Any findings regarding Aritha’s treatment would require independent veterinary evidence and, where relevant, official documentation to establish what medication she had been prescribed, whether it was administered and what caused her death.
