The investigation into the sudden death of beloved Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis has taken a dramatic new turn, with two doctors taken to the Athens Security Police following a lengthy inspection at the private clinic where he suffered a cardiac arrest.

The two doctors were taken to the Athens Security Subdivision after investigators completed a marathon forensic inspection at the private clinic on Karneadou Street in Kolonaki.

Authorities are now expected to brief the prosecutor overseeing the case on the latest findings as investigators continue to piece together what happened in the final hours of the 54 year old singer’s life.

According to reports, investigators are also awaiting the prosecutor’s approval to search Mazonakis’ home as part of the ongoing investigation.

The development came as attention remained focused on the circumstances surrounding the singer’s medical emergency at the Kolonaki clinic before he was transferred to Elpis Hospital, where doctors continued efforts to resuscitate him.

Mazonakis’ two sisters also went to Kypseli Police Station shortly before 6:20 pm. They remained there briefly before leaving.

The latest developments are expected to form part of the evidence presented to the prosecutor, who will determine the next steps in the investigation.

Authorities have not publicly established that any individual is responsible for Mazonakis’ death, and the investigation remains ongoing.
