Rs. 72 lakh worth of drugs incinerated

Mysuru: The Drug Disposal Committee on June 25 destroyed narcotic substances worth about Rs. 72 lakh that had been seized in cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act across various Police Stations in the city. 

The destroyed contraband included 80.739 kg of ganja seized in 30 NDPS cases and 314.385 grams of methamphetamine (meth) seized in 12 cases. 

After obtaining the Court’s permission, the drugs were incinerated at the GIPS Biotech facility at Gujjegowdanapura village in Jayapura Hobli of Mysuru taluk in the presence of the Drug Disposal Committee. 

The disposal process was supervised by the Committee Chairman and DCP (Crime and Traffic) K.S. Sundar Raj. Committee Member-Secretary and CCB ACP Mohammed Shariff Rawther, Committee Member C. Ravi Shankar and other officials were present.
