TikTok doctor eats the same breakfast every day 'for gut health and brain function'

by · ChronicleLive

Dr Joseph Salhab, affectionately known by fans as The Stomach Doc, has divulged his secret to maintaining top-notch health: a meticulously chosen breakfast. With gut well-being central to brain function, Dr Salhab's morning ritual includes indulging in Greek yogurt or kefir filled with natural probiotics—he notes, "They're naturally lower in lactose so it's great if you're lactose intolerant," but suggests coconut or soy substitutes for those steering clear of dairy.

The 1.8 million TikTok followers-strong gastroenterologist further blesses his gut flora with berries, crucial for encouraging healthy bacteria, whilst boosting memory and concentration with blueberries and raspberries. Walnuts also make it onto his plate for their rich omega 3 content and healthy fats.

For an inflammation-fighting kick, Dr. Salhab reaches for cinnamon, topping it off with chia seeds to avoid constipation—never eaten dry, he warns: "Just don't eat them dry. They soak up the water in yogurt pretty quickly. And follow with plenty of water."

Concluding on a high note, the gut health whiz states, "Once I have finished this great breakfast I'm ready to rock and roll and start my day and see some patients."

Dr Salhab lauded a viewer who detailed her daily dose of wholesome food in the morning, stating: "Every morning...overnight oats: oats, almond milk, protein powder, Greek yogurt, ground flaxseed and berries.", reports Surrey Live.

Another shared their twist on the meal, saying, "I have the same breakfast but I soak chia seeds in the kefir," while yet another voiced appreciation, remarking, "This is so helpful." And a berry enthusiast chimed in with, "I love blueberries."

One commentator highlighted the positive impacts they've noticed, divulging: "Kefir is really helping me! Trying to heal my gut from being newly diagnosed celiac."
