She passed away peacefully amid her loved ones, who are left heartbroken at her demise. After Adelia Zeidler's (maiden name Adelia Clooney) death, her brother, George, expressed his pride in her for dealing with her deteriorating health with courage and not giving up until her last breath. The American actor and filmmaker also shared that he and his wife, Amal Clooney, will be missing Adelia a lot. As Adelia heads to the afterlife, here's the reason for her untimely demise.

Adelia Zeidler died after a battle with a fatal disease. Following her demise, her younger brother, George Clooney, shared a statement with PEOPLE confirming the tragic event. George mentioned the cause of her death was cancer and described her as his "hero". The Jay Kelly actor praised Adelia for facing the fatal disease with "courage and humor" and expressed how much she meant to him and his wife, Amal Clooney. Adelia's obituary revealed that "she died peacefully surrounded by the people she loved." Speaking about her to PEOPLE, George emotionally shared:
"My sister, Ada, was my hero. She faced down cancer with courage and humor. I've never met anyone so brave. Amal and I will miss her terribly."

Adelia Zeidler's surviving family
Adelia is survived by a loving and close-knit family. She has two children, son, Nicholas' Nick' Zeidler, and daughter, Allison Zeidler Herolaga, who has largely remained out of the public spotlight. Adelia's husband, Norman, was a retired Army captain who died from a sudden heart attack on October 11, 2004. Adelia and Norman's daughter, Allison is married to Kenny Herolaga, and no information is available regarding Nick's partner. Adelia is also survived by her parents, 91-year-old, Nick Clooney and 86-year-old, Nina Clooney. Adelia's brother, George Clooney, his wife, Amal Clooney, and their twins, Ella and Alexander, have also been left behind by Adelia.

Adelia's brother and her family participated in her wedding with great enthusiasm. During the ceremony, George read the scripture, and his aunt, Rosemary Clooney, sang a romantic song for the newlyweds, Adelia and Norman. Her mother, Nina Bruce Warren, once expressed gratitude for the whole of Kentucky's contribution to making Adelia's marriage celebration a success. She stated:
"The whole town helped with the wedding. We couldn't have gotten through it without them."

Who was Adelia Zeidler?
Adelia Zeidler was the only daughter of journalist, Nick Clooney and writer, Nina Bruce Warren and she was the sister of popular actor, George Clooney. The siblings had a tight-knit bond, which was evident in his heartfelt words for her after her death. Adelia, who was born in Los Angeles on May 2, 1960, was named after her great-grandmother. Professionally, she was a talented artist who worked for many years as an elementary art teacher at Augusta Independent School in Kentucky. She was a member of the Augusta Art Guild and was a past grand marshal of Augusta's Annual White Christmas Parade. The academic-oriented Adelia also worked as a bookkeeper.

Adelia primarily lived a private life away from Hollywood, and one of her memorable sightings is her attendance at her brother, George Clooney's 2014 wedding to Amal Clooney in Venice. In a rare interview, Adelia once shared that she kept in touch with George primarily via email to ensure his phone number wouldn't be compromised if she lost her phone. It highlighted her genuine care for her sibling, a love warmly reciprocated. Following Amelia's death on December 19, 2025, her family organised a funeral mass for her. It is scheduled to take place on Monday, December 22, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maysville, Kentucky.
