Namita Thapar, best known as Shark Tank India's judge, has landed in a soup of controversy after her Reel on the health benefits of namaz went viral. A while ago, Namita dropped a video on her Instagram handle to share that she has been receiving extreme hatred online for the Reel. Namita added that her mother was also trolled for the same. It is worth mentioning that Namita had never shied away from speaking her mind, and this time, there was no exception.

Shark Tank's Namita Thapar gives a befitting reply to trolls for criticising her Reel on the health benefits of Namaz

On April 20, 2026, Shark Tank’s Namita Thapar shared a video on her Instagram handle. In the now-viral video, Namita shared that for the last three weeks, she has been receiving extreme hatred online. She mentioned that trolls are targeting her mother. The only reason behind such trolls was Namita’s viral Reel in which she shared the health benefits of namaz. Namita highlighted that earlier she had made many videos about the Hindu religion, but no one said anything about it. Shark Tank India judge stated that she was taught that the letter R in religion stands for respect. She was quoted as saying:

"Peechle teen hafte se mujhe gali di ja rahe hai. Non-stop. Aur meri darling mom ko bhi gande gande naam de rahe. For what? For making a Reel on health benefits of namaz. I am a health care professional. Maine itne saare Hindu religions pe Reels banaye hain, unke health benefits pe. Tab kisine kuch nahi bola. I was taught that ‘R’ in religion stands for respect. Is this how you show respect—especially toward two women? When reservation bill doesn’t pass, everyone speaks up, but when two women are disrespected like this, why the silence?"

Namita shared that long ago she learned that no one ever speaks for a particular person, and thus, they need to speak up for themselves. She also gave a special message to her trolls and said to continue with their work, as in Hinduism, there is a concept called karma. She was quoted as saying:

"I learned long ago that no one will speak for you—you have to speak up for yourself. So to all my trollers, please continue. But remember, Hinduism—and I am a proud Hindu—has a concept called karma. So proceed at your own discretion, because God is watching."

Namita Thapar opens up about the purpose of making a Reel as a reply to her trolls

Along with the now-viral clip, Namita Thapar shared a note. In the note, the Shark Tank India judge mentioned the purpose of making a Reel as a reply to her trolls. Namita stated that she made the video early in the morning at 7 am when she was on her way to work. Namita highlighted that she doesn’t care about the personal trolling as she has been used to it for the last 5 years since Shark Tank. She was quoted as saying:

"I’ve long realised that silence is not a virtue & one must speak up when they are disrespected. Yes, if wrong things happen at any workplace that are against basic human rights, me & all of us should speak up. I don’t care about the personal trolling, I’m used to it last 5 years since Shark Tank, but the purpose of this reel is to request all the proud Indians in this country to start speaking up when they see something wrong, out of humanity, out of patriotism. Jai Hind. Now off to another joyful & complex day at work!"
