He announced the death of his son through a post on X that left his followers in shock. Greg, who is best known for founding Global Vision Bible Church, mentioned his 20-year-old son died after a long and hard battle, which has been difficult for the family to process. Meanwhile, internet users have shared their condolences for the pastor's family.
What caused Evan Locke's death?
According to Greg Locke, Evan died after suffering from an overdose. It caused his heart to stop, eventually claiming his life. According to the Pastor's public statement, the doctors were unable to revive the 20-year-old. He admitted that it was the "most earth-shattering news" for the whole family. Greg explained that his son had been battling addiction for the past few years. He called it a "very public" struggle. Greg explained that they shared about Evan's addiction battle to warn others. But, sometimes it also became a source of his criticism. In his words:
"A few hours ago, we received the most earth-shattering news that our 20-year-old son, Evan Roberts Locke, could not be revived after his heart stopped due to an overdose. His struggle was very public. It was used as a warning to many, a punchline to the haters, but an overall reminder that even in our deepest pain, the grace of Jesus will sustain us."
The pastor admitted that his son had a long and painful addiction battle. In turn, it has become a major roadblock in his life. Yet, their family tried to support him through the journey. Still, the situation ended in a tragedy where Evan's heart stopped after the overdose. Greg mentioned that the funeral and memorial details would be shared with the Church community soon. At the same time, he requested the public to respect the family's privacy. Evan was born in 2005 and had five siblings.
Incidentally, the tragedy comes at a time when the Locke family had recently recovered after a difficult period. For those unaware, in 2024, their family home became the target of a shooting incident. Greg spoke publicly about the incident. Although Evan was not involved in it, the family had suffered from a difficult emotional strain. Greg previously asked his followers to pray for Evan, but it could not stop his tragic end.
