What happened on the night of Fiona Hepler's death?

According to information released by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, Fiona died on September 29, 2026. After an emergency incident at her family home, she was rushed to a local hospital, where she was declared dead at 1:14 a.m. In contrast to earlier reports, she was declared dead at the hospital and not at her home. Now, the officials have clarified that the cause of her death was suicide. However, they have kept the case open for normal administrative procedures. 

Notably, very few details about the situations around her death have been made public. Instead, her family has requested privacy as they grieve her loss. Now, the incident has shocked the local community. Later, on the morning of September 29, 2026, the 13-year-old's school notified parents and families about the loss of a student. The principal also mentioned how Fiona had a large group of friends and was an active participant in her class. 

In fact, the school has taken special initiative to make counselors available to support the students, teachers, and staff members who are affected by the news. Meanwhile, her family had described that Fiona was a kind, artistic, and talented young girl who loved to dance.

After the death of Fiona, Chad Lowe and his wife, producer Kim Painter, released a heartfelt statement. They remembered their daughter in the statement and mentioned how she was a loving girl who used to bring joy to those around her. The grieving parents called her the "light of our lives" and spoke about how the incident had a devastating impact on the entire family. At the end, they encouraged anyone who is struggling with mental health challenges to seek help via support services. 

After the announcement, Chad, Kim, and their daughters have stayed away from the public eye. At the same time, their representatives have clarified that the family will not make any more public statements. They just want to take the time to grieve the death of Fiona. For those who don't know, Fiona was the middle child of Chad Lowe and Kim Painter. She was born on November 16, 2012, and shared a close bond with her family. Her middle name, Helper, was also a way for Chad and Kim to honor his late mother, Barbara Helper. The 13-year-old shared a close bond with her sisters, and even the news of her passing was first shared on Mabel's social media handle.

Their eldest daughter is Mabel Painter Lowe, while their youngest daughter is Nixie Barbara Lowe. The family also included Chad Lowe's older brother, the actor Rob Lowe, and other relatives. Their father, Charles "Chuck" Lowe, also publicly honored his granddaughter with an emotional tribute after her death. 

Incidentally, the loss comes after the face had faced another challenge in 2025. They had lost their home in the Pacific Palisades wildfire. After that incident, Chad had mentioned how his daughters showed extreme strength and resilience to deal with the impact of having to leave their home.
