Yangon University plans to revive Science Fair in combination with arts and science research conference

Yangon University is making preparations to revive its Science Fair, which has not been held since 2020, by organizing it in conjunction with an Arts and Science Research Conference, according to university officials.

A coordination meeting on the resumption of the Science Fair was held on December 18 at the Arts Hall of Yangon University. The meeting was attended by the Rector, Pro-Rectors, Professors who serve as Heads of Departments, and other senior academic staff. Deputy Minister U Nay Myo Hlaing, Directors General, Deputy Directors General, and relevant officials were also present at the discussion.

During the meeting, the Union Minister said that the Yangon University Science Fair has not been held since 2020 and emphasized the need to revive the event in a lively and grand manner. He said the Science Fair will be organized jointly with the Arts and Science Research Conference to enhance public interest and participation.

He also urged academic departments to make early preparations to participate according to their respective disciplines and encouraged organizers to ensure that exhibition booths are well-prepared and attractively presented.

He further said that the IR Department should connect with international embassies to participate in cultural exchanges at the science fair. He also said that an Area Studies Research Center should be established. By establishing this center, researchers in science subjects can be produced, as well as researchers who can conduct an area study related to social sciences. He also said that preparations should be made in advance according to the subjects to open Job Ready Skill courses. He also said that they should cooperate to successfully hold the science fair and the science research conference.

Next, the Union Minister met with the President, Vice President in the Yangon University meeting hall and discussed holding the Science and Technology Research Conference, the Science and Technology Research Conference and the Science Fair. Professors (heads of departments) are requested to encourage the timely receiving of papers. It is planned to include student performances in the opening and closing ceremonies, and they are also requested to discuss the necessary matters.

Then, the Deputy Minister and the Professors (Deans) presented their suggestions for holding the science fair and opening the courses. The Union Minister made additional suggestions and discussed the needs.
