Four bone marrow cancer patients successfully undergo transplants at Yangon General Hospital
· Eleven Media Group Co., LtdYangon - Four patients suffering from bone marrow cancer have successfully undergone bone marrow transplantation at Yangon General Hospital, according to the Ministry of Health.
With guidance and support from the Ministry of Health, the Bone Marrow Transplant Center under the Department of Hematology at Yangon General Hospital admitted the patients in May 2026 and successfully carried out the procedures.
The patients included a 38-year-old woman from Thabaung Township, a 57-year-old woman from Hlaing Township, a 47-year-old man from Kyaukse Township, and a 53-year-old man from Shwebo Township. All four patients responded well to treatment and were discharged from the hospital on June 12 after showing satisfactory recovery.
The transplants were performed through the collaborative efforts of the hospital administration team, professors and specialist physicians from the Department of Hematology, experts and specialists from related departments, skilled nurses, and supporting staff.
The Ministry of Health stated that the successful procedures marked another achievement for Myanmar’s bone marrow transplant program and demonstrated the coordinated efforts of medical professionals at Yangon General Hospital.
