Smith Jerrod Is Moving to Costa Rica

by · VULTURE

Jason Lewis, who played Smith Jerrod on Sex and the City, has joined social media after a three-year hiatus with some exciting news: he’s writing a nine-book fantasy series. And he’s gone to Costa Rica to focus on his writing. In an interview with THR, Lewis explained that he’s writing a trilogy set in a universe with its own magic system, similar to The Lord of the Rings. He shared how studying physics helps him with world building. “It’s just that when you’re creating fantasy or even science fiction, there’s a fine line between hard science or hard magic and soft magic. For me, I wanted to understand the hard magic of it, but it’s not a lecture on physics. It’s magic,” he said. He then explained his plan for the series: “I’ve outlined three trilogies. They’re each set in the same world in different eras. It’s a triptych. There are arguments each one in terms of the same themes of power and agency and wielding that. But I chose to start at the end. I’m on book seven. I’m on the fourth draft of it. Well, 3.5. The first draft is really just a 150-page summary.” If he needs some PR for the book release, he knows who to call.
