Vogue Williams has said she “couldn’t sit for a week” after starting her dancing rehearsals for Strictly Come Dancing.

The Howth star has signed up for the Christmas version of the hit BBC show.

Six celebrities will perform festive routines to be crowned Strictly Christmas Champion 2024. Drag artist Tayce and comedian Josh Widdicombe have already been announced.

Vogue told listeners on Monday morning while she was filling in for Ryan Tubridy on his Virgin Radio UK show that she started rehearsals last week – and discovered she can’t dance.

The mum-of-three said: “I have joined the Strictly Christmas line up this year. I am joining Josh Widdicombe and Tayce. Tayce looks very good at dancing.

“I haven’t personally seen Josh dancing yet.

“I started rehearsals last week. I did two days, short-ish days for rehearsals. I thought I was fit, I could not put my trousers on for almost a week.

Vogue Williams will be partnered with professional dancer Carlos Gu on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special

“It’s only getting normal today. I had to sit down to put my trousers on because my legs were so sore.

“I mean it’s great craic but the problem is that I look like I can dance, and I really can’t dance.”

Vogue said when she walked into the studio, her dance partner Carlo Gu – who was partnered with Angela Scanlon on the show last year – thought she could dance.

“You can dance and then he said ‘oh, no you certainly cannot dance.’”

But Vogue said she “cannot wait” to get onto the dance floor for the Christmas special.

The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Christmas Day.
