TRENDING: Men ejaculating less than four times monthly have 33% higher risk of prostate cancer, says doctor

A Nigerian doctor identified as Rasheed Abassi says men who ejaculate fewer than four times per month may face a 33% higher risk of developing prostate cancer.

Speaking on The Morayo Show, Abassi said his remark is supported by research conducted over 20 years ago by female researchers at Harvard, who were investigating the causes of prostate cancer, particularly among black men.

According to Abassi, the study found that men with low sexual activity could have a higher risk of prostate cancer, while more frequent ejaculation might reduce that risk.

The doctor linked the findings to what he called “stagnation theory” — the idea that harmful substances from food and environmental exposure can build up in the body and may contribute to cancer if not regularly flushed out.

“This study was done close to 20 years ago. We need to ask ourselves why we are facing certain things that were not there, even in the history of medicine. Why are Black men dying of prostate cancer? That was the genesis that led to the study,” he said.

“By the way, this study was not done by men; it was all done by female researchers at Harvard, and they put it in tiers. A man who ejaculates less than four times a month has a 33% chance of prostate cancer. That’s not Dr Abbasi, that’s not negative thinking.

“Then they went further, and they realised that 18 to 21 ejaculations a month actually decrease that chance. That’s what led to this. The theory behind that is what is called stagnation theory.

“Every cancer, go and Google it — breast cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer. When we diagnose this and we look at the cells, we see toxins, toxins that could have been flushed during ejaculation. These toxins come from everything you and I eat, everything we’re exposed to environmentally.”

Abassi acknowledged that achieving such frequency can be challenging due to differences in how men and women experience intimacy.

He described men as “visual” and “like a microwave,” while women are more emotionally driven and “like an oven” that requires preheating.

“But then, let’s step back. The human body, for a man, sex is a physiologic need. For women, it is with the emotions. A man that has sex regularly — we’re not advocating at Heritage Men’s Clinic just sex, we say lovemaking. Because in reality, when a man that is visual sees a woman that he likes, his body acts like a microwave, zero to sixty,” he added.

“The woman, on the other hand, is not like that; she’s an oven. You need to preheat for her to get to that point. So, when a woman enjoys lovemaking, she gives you 21 times.”

This is not the first time such comments have circulated. In February, Nigerian media personality Daddy Freeze stated that it is “compulsory” for men to ejaculate at least 21 times per month to lower their cancer risk.

However, checks by TheCable Lifestyle show that the figure originated from a 2004 study involving 29,000 men over eight years.

The study suggested that men who ejaculated 21 or more times per month had a 31% lower risk of prostate cancer compared with those who ejaculated 4–7 times per month.

Contrary to Abassi’s claim, the study did not find that men who ejaculate less than four times a month have a 33% chance of developing the disease.
