Free health camp held in 5 villages in Mon
· Nagaland PageDimapur, November 29: A two-month-long health intervention was completed for 5 remote villages of Mon district of Nagaland on November 9, a CSR initiative of Hindustan Petroleum Cooperation Limited (HPCL) organized by District Administration, Mon: Nagaland collaboration with Youth Action for Social Service (YAA), Mon, Nagaland
During the healthcare programme at ground level, a series of interventions was conducted, such as consultation and meetings with the shareholders, the Health workers training programme, Field visit and Health awareness programme and Free Health camps for 5 villages vizly :- Longting, Tizit Town,Yannu, Nokyan and Yanpan. An inclusive approach of intervention was adopted accordingly. It provides us a significant opportunity to look deeper into various problems related to healthcare issues at district level. DC Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, highlighted the alarming health sector situation in the district, urging stakeholders to support initiatives that reduce pressure on public healthcare mechanisms. He said the objective of conducting the health camp to underserved communities was to create awareness of general health among the people, provide general health care services and counseling them on basic healthcare and hygiene. These camps have made the people getting the healthcare at the right time, and see the doctor early enough before a small health problem turns serious.
During the series of interventions, Shinwang Konyak, Secretary of Youth Action for Social Service (YASS) highlighted that inhabitants of around 35 villages located in the border area face extreme hardship due to lack of proper healthcare facilities. He said the villagers could not afford to go to towns or cities for health check-ups due to lack of resources.
Free Health camp has come as a blessing for the entire population of the area, he said, while expressing appreciation to Hindustan Petroleum Cooperation Limited (HPCL) for the initiative and support for the programme
Zhoi Lohe, NCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tizit, Mon: Nagaland, emphasized the importance of timely healthcare, ensuring people receive medical attention before minor issues become serious
During the inauguration function, Ankur B Hazarika, Senior Area Manger Sale, HPCL highlighted the company’s commitment to social responsibility. In his speech, he said the benefit of this project; calling is a blessing for the poor and encouraging the public to take advantage of the facilities.
During the health camp, a range of services like free medical check-up, hemoglobin test, sugar test, height-weight, blood pressure check-up, medicine distribution and distribution of hygiene kits was provided under the curative services. Basic awareness on health education, including precaution from common viral diseases, was imparted and also advised them on basic healthcare and hygiene.
