Prince George Started at Eton Today, and He’s Nearly as Tall as Kate in Heels and the Spitting Image of William at 13

Prince George turned 13 in July. On Tuesday his parents walked him through the gates of Eton, the same school William started in 1995.

Headmaster Simon Henderson shook his hand and told him, “Welcome, good luck, enjoy it.” The family then went inside to sign the historic entrance book, the same one William signed as a boy.

The school, founded in 1440 by Henry VI, sits a short drive from the family’s home at Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park. Fees run about £65,000 a year. As an F Block (Year 9) pupil and boarder, George gets his own room, a mentor “uncle,” and a “timelord” to manage his schedule, and he’s expected to live in the same house his father did.

This is George’s first extended time as a boarder after his day-pupil years at Lambrook. His siblings, Charlotte and Louis, start their terms later. Kensington Palace released three official portraits by Matt Porteous of George in Eton’s black tailcoat and pinstriped trousers, hands in his pockets in one shot.

The day also fell on the fourth anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death.
