Model Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has died at the age of 27. He died on Sunday at a rehab facility in Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. His cause of death has not been disclosed.

According to CNN, a representative for Cindy Crawford confirmed Presley’s death and said, “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”

Born in California in 1999, Presley was the only son of Cindy and Rande Gerber and the older brother of model and actor Kaia Gerber. He followed his family into the fashion industry and made his runway debut for Italian label Moschino at the age of 16.

Presley made his runway debut for Italian fashion label Moschino when he was 16. He later walked for several major fashion houses, including Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren.

He also featured in campaigns for brands such as Calvin Klein, Celine, Pepsi and Omega. His work appeared in publications including GQ Style and The New York Times Style Magazine.

Presley was signed by DNA Model Management in 2019. According to his agency biography, he later explored work as an investor and entrepreneur. DNA also represents his sister Kaia, along with models including Emily Ratajkowski and Adwoa Aboah.

Presley Gerber spoke openly about mental health struggles

In recent years, Presley had spoken publicly about his experiences with mental health and substance use. In a 2023 appearance on the Studio 22 podcast, he discussed his efforts to use his platform to raise awareness about mental health.

He had also started an initiative called “Mental Health Mondays” and worked with organisations including Los Angeles-based homelessness charity A Sense of Home.

In December last year, Presley shared a video on Instagram in which he spoke about prescription medication he had been taking, including antidepressants and Xanax for panic attacks. The video was later removed.

At the time, he wrote about experiencing significant personal loss. Cindy Crawford responded to the post, writing: “Presley — we love you and you are not alone.”

Cindy had continued to publicly celebrate her son. In July, she marked his 27th birthday on Facebook, writing that she was proud of the man he had become while adding that she would always see him as her “little boy”.

Kaia Gerber spoke about her brother's struggles

Presley's death comes shortly after his sister Kaia spoke about his struggles with addiction in the September issue of American Vogue.

Kaia described the impact his experiences had on their family and said they had changed the way she viewed her own role within it. She also spoke about Presley's decision to be open about his struggles rather than keep them private.

“My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything — and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone,’” Kaia was quoted as saying.

She also spoke about how difficult it was for the family when one member was struggling, saying that such experiences could “level everyone”.

Presley's death is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. Further details about the circumstances and cause of death have not yet been released.
