Jamia Millia Islamia University will start online applications for admission to its various PhD programmes for the academic session 2024-25 tomorrow, October 10. Interested candidates can apply between October 10 and October 30 at admission.jmi.ac.in.

Additionally, the schedule for the Jamia Millia Islamia entrance test will be announced separately on the official website.

JMI PhD ADMISSION 2024 REGISTRATION: HOW TO APPLY

Steps to applying for PhD programmes at Jamia Millia Islamia University:

1. Visit the official website: Go to admission.jmi.ac.in.
2. Create an account or log in: If you are a new applicant, create an account. If you already have an account, log in using your saved credentials.
3. Complete the application form: Fill out the application form, upload all required documents, and pay the application fee.
4. Download the admission form: After submitting your application, download the form for your records.

"The application for admission shall be submitted to the Department/Faculty/Centre concerned along with a Demand Draft of Rs.1,000/- drawn in favour of the Registrar, Jamia Millia Islamia, payable at Delhi/New Delhi," reads the official notice.

The list of candidates eligible to take the entrance test, along with the admission schedule, will be posted on the notice board of the relevant department, faculty, or centre, as well as on the university's website.

Meanwhile, the University Grants Commission (UGC) plans to award ten 'PhD Excellence Citations' annually to recognise high-quality PhD work among young research scholars. Set to commence next year, these citations aim to honour outstanding doctoral research, as stated by UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar.

The awards will cover theses in five disciplines: Sciences (including Agricultural and Medical Sciences), Engineering and Technology, Social Sciences (including Education and Humanities), Indian Languages, and Commerce and Management.
