NGSMIPS and NCOPS offer practical training, research exposure and global regulatory learning for pharmacy students

Nitte University is strengthening its pharmaceutical education offerings through its flagship institutes — NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (NGSMIPS) in Mangaluru and Nitte College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (NCOPS) in Bengaluru. The institutes offer undergraduate (BPharm), postgraduate (MPharm), and doctoral programs focused on academic excellence and industry readiness.
The programs are aligned with Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) guidelines and global regulatory standards, helping students build strong technical and practical foundations in pharmaceutical sciences.

Curriculum designed for industry readiness

The courses cover major areas of pharmaceutical sciences, including Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacology, Industrial Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance.
Students are also introduced to international regulatory frameworks such as FDA, EMA, WHO, OECD, ICH and CDSCO guidelines, preparing them for opportunities in both domestic and global pharmaceutical sectors.

Hands-on training and practical exposure

The institute places a strong emphasis on experiential learning through advanced laboratories focused on formulation development, analytical testing and pharmacological research.

Students also undergo structured industrial training and practice school modules that help connect classroom learning with real-world industry requirements.

Research and community healthcare initiatives

Beyond academics, students participate in community pharmacy initiatives, hospital-based training and health awareness programs, gaining exposure to patient care and public health practices.
At the postgraduate level, students are encouraged to take part in research projects, funded initiatives, internships and scientific publications, supported by conference and grant opportunities.

Interdisciplinary learning environment

The university ecosystem also allows students to collaborate with peers from medical, dental and allied health sciences disciplines, encouraging a more integrated approach to healthcare education.

Career opportunities across the pharmaceutical sectors

Graduates from NGSMIPS and NCOPS are equipped for careers in pharmaceutical manufacturing, research and development, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, clinical research and academia.
With a balance of academic learning, industry exposure and research-driven education, the programs aim to prepare students for the evolving pharmaceutical and healthcare landscape.
