No Indian B-school in QS global MBA Rankings top 50: IIM Bangalore at 64

No Indian business school has entered the top 50 of the QS Global MBA Rankings 2027, with IIM Bangalore placing joint 64th. The rankings also show IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta slipping from last year while staying in the global top 100.

No Indian business school has made it to the global top 50 in the QS Global MBA Rankings 2027, with IIM Bangalore emerging as the highest-ranked Indian institute at joint 64th position. IIM Ahmedabad followed at joint 70th, while IIM Calcutta secured 95th place.

The QS Global MBA Rankings 2027 were released on September 16, 2026, covering more than 400 full-time MBA programmes across 65 countries and territories. QS assesses programmes across indicators such as employability, return on investment, entrepreneurship and alumni outcomes, thought leadership and diversity.

The US dominates the top four positions, with MIT Sloan School of Management taking the number 1 spot, followed by Harvard Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Wharton School.

IIM BANGALORE HIGHEST-RANKED INDIAN B-SCHOOL

IIM Bangalore is the highest-ranked Indian institution in the 2027 QS Global MBA Rankings, securing joint 64th position globally. However, its position declined from 52nd in the previous edition.

IIM Ahmedabad also saw a drop, moving to joint 70th position from 58th, while IIM Calcutta slipped to 95th from 64th. All three remain within the global top 100.

IIM Ahmedabad was the only Indian institution to feature in the global top 100 for entrepreneurship and alumni outcomes, ranking 84th.

19 ENTRIES FROM INDIA IN QS GLOBAL MBA RANKINGS

A total of 19 Indian institutions feature in the 2027 QS Global MBA Rankings. Five institutions are new entrants this year, including O.P. Jindal Global University, which is placed in the 171-180 band.

The other new Indian entrants — Jaipuria Institute of Management, School of Business and Management at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), School of Leadership and Management at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, and Vikrant University Gwalior — are placed in the 301+ category.

Across the broader QS Global MBA and Business Master's Rankings, India has 28 entries, while the specialised Business Master's Rankings have 41 Indian entries.

The QS rankings use five broad areas to assess MBA programmes: employability, value for money, alumni outcomes, thought leadership and diversity. Employability carries the highest weight at 40 per cent, followed by value for money at 20 per cent, alumni outcomes and thought leadership at 15 per cent each, and diversity at 10 per cent.
