The Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS), under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has invited applications for its Paid Internship Scheme 2026.
The opportunity is open to final-year engineering students and offers a chance to work in one of India’s premier defence research laboratories.
The internship will be conducted at DIPAS, Delhi, and its research cell DIBER in Haldwani. Students selected for the programme will gain exposure to real-world defence research while working closely with scientists and research teams.
The internship is designed to support students in building practical skills and understanding the functioning of research organisations under the Ministry of Defence.
However, candidates should note that completion of the internship does not guarantee employment in DRDO.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR DRDO INTERNSHIP 2026
- Students entering final year of B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in 2026–2027
- Must not have any academic backlogs
- Must be enrolled in a recognised Indian college
- Must obtain referral/sponsorship letter from their institution
- Preference may be based on merit and academic performance.
DRDO INTERNSHIP DETAILS AND DISCIPLINES
The programme offers limited vacancies across engineering disciplines:
- Mechanical Engineering: 2 (Delhi), 1 (Haldwani)
- Computer Science Engineering: 1 (Delhi)
- Electronics Engineering: 1 (Delhi), 1 (Haldwani)
- Electrical Engineering: 2 (Haldwani)
The internship duration is six months and is scheduled to begin from July 1, 2026, tentatively.
DRDO INTERNSHIP STIPEND AND BENEFITS
Selected interns will receive a total stipend of Rs 30000 for the entire duration.
- Rs 15000 after completion of 3 months
- Rs 15000 after completion of 6 months
The stipend is subject to a minimum attendance of 15 working days per month.
All other expenses, including lodging, boarding, transport, and medical costs will be borne by the interns themselves.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF DRDO INTERNSHIP 2026
- Work on research projects under DRDO scientists
- Assist in technical and engineering-based assignments
- Participate in laboratory-based research activities
- Contribute to project documentation and analysis
- Present work before a review committee at the end of internship
- Interns must complete the full six-month duration to receive the internship certificate.

SELECTION PROCESS OF DRDO INTERNSHIP
- Selection based on merit and/or interview (online or physical)
- In case of equal marks, older candidate will be preferred
- Selected candidates will be informed via email only
- Candidates must also submit a police verification certificate and a No Objection Certificate at the time of joining.
