A video showing several bikers skidding and falling on a colourful flyover in Kolkata amid heavy rain has gone viral on social media. The incident was captured by the dashboard camera of a car travelling behind the two-wheelers on the same stretch.

The video shows multiple bikers riding along the brightly painted flyover when they appear to lose control and skid on the wet surface.

Some of the riders fall onto the road as the trailing car approaches the stretch. The footage captures the incident as traffic continues to move along the flyover amid the rain.

The video has drawn attention to the condition of the colourful flyovers as Kolkata undergoes a festive makeover ahead of Durga Puja, the biggest annual festival in West Bengal.

In recent days, several flyovers and public spaces across the city have been painted in vibrant shades of orange, pink and yellow as part of the preparations for the festival.

The West Bengal government has undertaken the beautification drive to bring festive elements to prominent public infrastructure across Kolkata.

Flyovers, bridges, junctions and other public spaces are being decorated as part of the preparations.

Among the structures that have received or are undergoing a makeover are the Gariahat and Chingrighata flyovers.

The colourful designs have attracted attention on social media, with residents and local bloggers sharing videos and photographs of the transformed structures.

However, the latest video, which shows bikers skidding on the rain-soaked flyover, has brought the stretch into focus for a different reason.

The footage documents the riders losing their balance on the wet road, though the circumstances surrounding the incident and whether anyone sustained injuries were not immediately clear.

The video continues to circulate online as Kolkata's public infrastructure receives a festive makeover ahead of Durga Puja.
