A bizarre incident has come to light after a video appeared to show a driver at a government hospital in Kanpur examining patients and writing prescriptions in the absence of a doctor.
The incident was reported at Kanshi Ram Combined Hospital and Trauma Center, where a man identified as the doctor’s driver, Dev, was seen asking patients about their health problems, including whether they were experiencing stomach pain or other discomfort.
He is then seen writing prescriptions.
According to reports, Emergency Medical Officer Ramkesh had gone to court in connection with a case. During his absence, his driver called patients in the OPD, heard their complaints and prescribed medicines.
Patients seen in the video were also told to purchase the prescribed medicines from a medical store outside the hospital.
The video later surfaced online and went viral, prompting the hospital administration to seek an explanation from the doctor.
The authorities warned that action, including the possibility of an FIR, would be taken if such negligence was repeated.
