Bhubaneswar: The agitating doctors across Odisha put on hold their ongoing protest following discussions with Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Saturday.
The announcement was made by the Health Minister after a meeting with representatives of the Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA).
“We have decided to call off our indefinite strike following a meeting with the Health Minister. As per a decision taken at the meeting, the state government will form a high-level committee to look into our demands,” said the OMSA in a statement.

The doctors, affiliated to Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA), had launched an indefinite strike on July 1 to press for their 10-point charter of demands.
The state government has decided to constitute a high-level committee to examine the demands raised by OMSA. The committee will include the Secretaries of the Health, General Administration, Finance, and Law departments, ensuring that the issues are reviewed from administrative, financial, and legal perspectives. They will convene another meeting on July 22 for further discussion on the demands of the doctors.
“All doctors affiliated to OMSA have been asked to return to work with immediate effect. We hope that there will be no further disruption in the healthcare services in hospitals across Odisha,” added OMSA.
