Bhubaneswar: Professor arrested for seeking sexual favour from student

Bhubaneswar: A veterinary professor was arrested by Bharatpur Police in Bhubaneswar on charges of seeking sexual favour from a female student and making her fake obscene photos and posting them on social media platforms.

The arrested professor has been identified as Ajit Kumar Gupta of Hooghly district in West Bengal.

According to reports, Gupta who was teaching in a veterinary college in the state capital city since a long period of time but recently he allegedly sexually harassed one of his female students in the middle of a lecture hall.

As claimed by the girl, Gupta used to follow her repeatedly, propose her, and send messages forcing her to have physical relations with him. However, when the student did not agree to his proposals, he even made her obscene photos and posted them on social media.

After learning about her obscene photos, the student filed a complaint at the Bharatpur police station seeking action against the accused professor.

Based on the complaint, police arrested the accused and forwarded him to the court. They also recorded the statement of the girl.

Further probe into the matter is underway.
