Researchers uncover possible security vulnerability in apple’s hide my email. Apple’s hide my email feature could have a security issue that would allow the real email address to be revealed.
The feature is part of apple’s icloud+ subscription, and allows you to create a random email address that then forwards to your actual inbox.
Hide my email was designed for users who want to shield their real email from unwanted mail and also protect privacy.
In may, one researcher announced that they found a way that the real email address for a hide my email address could be discovered.
The researchers said that apple was alerted in June 2025, and then apple told the researchers that the issue was patched.

After more tests, however, the researcher now claims the vulnerability has reappeared.
The researcher says that they have made the bug public but will not share technical details for the vulnerability at this time for fears of abuse.
If the vulnerability proves to be valid, people that relied on the feature to hide their email addresses could be at risk.
Apple did not publicly comment on the claims at the time of publishing.
