San Diego Doctor Confesses to Role in Fatal Overdose of ‘Friends’ Star Matthew Perry

Los Angeles:   Chavez pleaded guilty on the grounds for conspiring and successfully delivering Ketamine which is an anesthetic drug. 54 year old Dr Mark Chavez who is the third person who pleaded guilty as a counterpart of the plea bargain with prosecutors that happened this year.

Chavez decided to help the authorities in order to catch hold of the other suspects in the investigation. The authorities are after two other big targets, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who was allegedly accused of supplying Ketamine to Matthew directly, and the other suspect being Jasmine Sangha, aka “ketamine queen” popular drug dealer of Los Angeles. The prosecutors strongly believe that these two individuals had an active involvement in Perry’s Untimely death in 2023.

During the court proceedings it was confessed by Chavez that he had provided Plasencia with 22 vials and 9 lozenzes of Ketamine. And Plasencia sold this batch of Ketamine to him for $4500 with the help of fraud prescriptions. Chavez and Plasencia’s plan altogether was to hook Perry with Ketamine and slowly transform him into a regular customer .

Text messages between both accomplices were traced down where it was discovered that they had constant plotting going on, where they had discussed about all the risk factors in doing all this. In fact, Chavez had sent a text to Placencia stating “it depends on your tolerance for risk.” However this plotting wasn’t just Chavez’s doing, Plasencia was equally responsible and an accomplice to Perry’s death.

Matthew was being treated and diagnosed for depression, so he was legally prescribed by his doctor to consume Ketamine as medication. But gradually Perry believed he needed more than he was prescribed to deal with his situation. All of this led to Matthew and Plasencia meeting each other. This is when he came to know Dr Mark Chavez who later supplied him more doses of Ketamine.

Nonetheless, on October 28, 2023, Matthew Perry was found dead in his Jacuzzi by his assistant. The cause of death was reported to be high level of the substance Ketamine in his system.

Chavez has agreed to revoke his medical license and get out on bail until April 2024. He might end up being punished with up to 10 years in prison, but there is quite a possibility that because of his cooperation with the prosecutors they might go easy on him.
