Dead yet alive! Brain-dead Odisha man saves 10 lives in Bengaluru
by Subadh Nayak · KalingaTVKoraput: Debadutta Patra of Odisha’s Koraput is dead yet continues to be alive as he saved the lives of 10 people after his family members donated some of his organs in a Bengaluru hospital recently.
Debadutta is the son of Pradeep Patra and Suprabha Nayak of Gautam Nagar area in Koraput Town. He was working at a software company in Bengaluru. However, his wife Chhandamayee Samal admitted him at a hospital after he suffered a brain-stroke on October 29.
Two days after his treatment at the particular hospital, Debadutta was shifted to the Manipal Hospital, where he breathed his last on November 4.
The doctors, who were attending Debadutta, mourned over his demise and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family members (mostly his father, mother and wife). The doctors also advised them about the organ donations saying that if they want Debadutta can save the lives of ten people who are fighting for their survivals.
After getting consent from the family members, the doctors removed some important organs of Debadutta including heart, eyes, liver and kidney and transplanted them with the needy patients.
Though the unfortunate and untimely death of Debadutta has saddened his family members, but given new lives and smile on the face of the members of ten other families.
Meanwhile, praises poured-in for Debadutta’s family members for taking the bold yet exemplary decision to donate his organs to save the lives of people, whom they even do not know.
