8 months pregnant woman dies in Malkangiri Hospital, family alleges medical negligence

Malkangiri : Tension erupted at Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital as the family members of an eight-month pregnant woman created a commotion in protest against her death which they alleged due to doctors’ negligence.

The deceased has been identified as Bandana Mondal.

As per reports, the locals had rushed Bandana to the hospital Tuesday night after suspecting the woman had been bitten by a snake.

It is to be noted that the family members even carried the snake to the hospital so that doctors could help in identifying it.

Doctors there allegedly discharged Bandana after providing initial treatment.

However, as her condition had deteriorated this morning, family members rushed her back to hospital where she was declared dead.

The relatives, angry after Bandana’s death have allegedly physically assaulted the doctors and security guards at the hospital claiming that the lady died due to poor medical care provided by the doctors.

On being informed, Police force  rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.

Further investigation is underway.
