2 arrested, drugs worth Rs 40 crore seized from truck in Guwahati

Guwahati: Two arrested and drugs worth Rs 40 crore seized after a truck carrying a large consignment of narcotics was intercepted near bus stand in Guwahati, Assam on Wednesday, as per reports.
This interception operation was launched after the police had a tip-off that a truck is allegedly carrying drugs is en route from a location through Assam to different parts of the country.
When the police saw the truck, at first glimpse the truck was reportedly empty, but when a detailed search was made they found a built compartment where the drugs were kept.

The items that were seized from the vehicle are 1.5 lakh tablets packed in 15 bundles and soaps containing suspected heroin.
As per reports, the two arrested persons are charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Investigators believe that this can also lead arrest and seizing of items can also provide crucial leads into routes used used by drug traffickers to transport narcotics from Manipur through Assam and onward to other parts of the country.
