In Sanatan Dharma, Vastu Shastra is regarded as an ancient science that deeply influences our lives. Even after hard work and effort, if success feels out of reach, there may be a Vastu dosha at home. Knowing Vastu basics is therefore essential.

When there are Vastu defects, children often struggle to focus on studies. Many times, despite serious effort, results don’t match expectations.

Vastu Shastra offers several remedies to improve concentration and academic success. The most important among them is the placement of the study table.

Here’s what you need to know:

Vastu Tips for Better Studies

  1. Direction Based on Material

If the study table is made of wood, place it in the east or southeast (Agni Kona) direction of the room.  If the table is made of metal like iron, the west or northwest (Vayavya Kona) direction is best.

  1. Placement in Drawing Room & Book Racks

If a child studies in the drawing room, keep the study table in the northeast (Ishana kona), north, or northwest (Vayavya kona) corner.  Book racks should be placed in the west or south direction for positive results.  Never push the study table directly against a wall; leave some gap behind it.

  1. Shape and Size of the Table

As per Vastu Sashtra, the study table should be square or rectangular.  A square table is best for maintaining concentration.  If rectangular, the length to width ratio should not exceed 1:2.

  1. Avoid Overhead Beams and Keep Space Open

There should be no beam or overhead cabinet above the study table. The space above must be clear.  Avoid placing a door directly behind the study table or chair.  Keep open space in front of the table. This encourages new ideas and mental clarity.

  1. What to Keep on the Table

Don’t leave the space in front of the table empty. Hang an inspiring photo or an image related to studies on the wall ahead.  If using a table lamp, place it on the left side of the table. The southeast or northwest corner of the table is ideal for a lamp.  Keep the study room clean and clutter-free.

  1. Fragrance for Focus

To improve concentration, light rose or sandalwood incense sticks in the study room regularly.

Following these simple Vastu rules for the study table can help remove obstacles, boost focus, and bring better results in academics.
