Kandhamal: Man charred to death, 2 others turn critical as car, Auto catch fire after accident

Phulbani: In a tragic incident, a man got charred to death while two others turned critical following a car and Auto rickshaw head-on collision in Kandhamal district of Odisha on Saturday. The accident took place near the ITI under Phulbani Sadar police station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Varun Kumar Mallick, the Auto driver. His house is said to be in Maniakathi village.

As per reports, Varun was returning home from Phulbani when his auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a car coming from the Boudh side at high speed.

The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire. One person was burnt alive, while two others were critically injured and initially admitted to Phulbani HQ Hospital. They were later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for further treatment.

The car driver fled the scene.

Fire brigade teams arrived and extinguished the flames after receiving information about the accident.
