3-day-old baby girl found pregnant, doctors in shock in Madhya Pradesh
by KalingaTV Bureau · KalingaTVMadhya Pradesh: A shocking event has come to the public eye from Sagar in Bundelkhand, when a new-born baby was found to have another fetus inside it’s abdomen. This rare case has left the doctors in shock.
Reportedly a pregnant woman from Kesli block was admitted to the district hospital. The doctors conducted a sonography test. At that time the woman was 9 months pregnant. The sonography suggested that there’s a fetus developing inside the baby’s body.
The woman gave birth to a baby on September 4 2024. Later test reports showed that another fetus has been developing inside the new-born’s body. She was then referred to the medical college for further tests. Dr. Punya Pratap Singh, department head and professor conducted the further tests and confirmed the news.
The doctor who confirmed the news said that, he have been doing sonography since 2008, and this is the first such case for him. According to him, this is a very rare incident that happens in less than one in a million woman in which the a newborn baby girl is found pregnant. Only 200 such cases have occurred in worldwide so far.
The woman was later discharged from the hospital after giving birth to a healthy baby. But she was again admitted to the medical college after the confirmation of a fetus inside the new-born’s body.
During the first ultrasound of the baby, the doctors found calcium build up in his body. Further Doppler test revealed that there’s a possibility of fetus inside the baby. This medical term is called “Fetus in Fetu” (FIF), where another fetus could be developing inside. It can be a tumor too. Later a CT scan confirmed the possibility of a fetus rather than a tumor.
The medical team is closely monitoring the situation and considering the next course of action in the case of the baby girl found pregnant.
