The Social Reckoning trailer
by Rob Beschizza · Boing BoingThe Social Reckoning is Aaron Sorkin's sequel to The Social Network, his 2010 drama about the founding of Facebook. The original, starred Jesse Eisenberg as petulant boy genius Mark Zuckerberg. The new one stars Jeremy Strong as middle-era business suit Zuckerberg. The trailer is out and embedded below.
Strong gets the voice right but is at least a decade older than the thirtysomething Zuckerberg he's portraying, which gives it a stagey quality. It's also suddenly clear how much power the original drew from being directed by David Fincher, scored by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, and knifed into your brain by the Scala choir singing Creep; none of those vibes are present except in faint echoes. The source material is very good, though, and while talky it's not constant witty glossolalia, so let's give it a chance.
The concluding part of the implicit trilogy here will presumably star Rob Schneider as the contemporary MAGA glow-up Zuck.
