Maynilad fined P54 million for service interruptions
by Adrian Kenneth Halili · philstarMANILA, Philippines — Maynilad Water Services Inc. will refund customers affected by repeated interruptions from its water treatment plant, the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System-Regulatory Office ordered yesterday.
The MWSS-RO has imposed a fine of P54.28 million on Maynilad due to interruptions in its Putatan Water Treatment Plant and Poblacion Water Treatment Plant supply zones, covering areas in Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Imus and Bacoor.
The West Zone concessionaire must refund P327.96 per affected water service connection, the MWSS-RO said.
It would be reflected in customers’ water bills by May 2026, through Resolution 2026-06-CA.
Maynilad breached its service obligation to ensure uninterrupted water supply for a minimum pressure of seven pounds per square inch for its 165,518 connected customers, the MWSS-RO noted.
