 Jocelyn “Jo” Lising-Abelgas, respected veteran journalist and editor-in-chief of Pilipino Star Ngayon and PM (Pang Masa), died Thursday at age 61.

Abelgas was also Metro editor of PSN since the late 1990s, her length of service reaching 38 years with the newspaper.

She started as a reporter for Ang Pilipino Ngayon (predecessor of PSN) on June 16, 1986, months after its founding.

Her first beat was the Quezon City Police District, Camp Aguinaldo (Defense) and Camp Crame (PNP).

In 1998, she was recruited to the desk as Metro editor of PSN.

In 2018, Jo was promoted to managing editor of PSN and editor-in-chief in November 2019.

She is survived by husband Gus Abelgas and children Katrina Paola and Carl Janero.

Her remains lie at St. Peter Chapel along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City.
