MANILA, Philippines — A tropical cyclone is expected to form and make landfall in the country this month, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said yesterday.

PAGASA weather specialist Benison Esterase said the chances of tropical cyclone formation are high especially if the entry point is in the eastern parts of Mindanao.

“The landfall of the possible tropical cyclone may be in Caraga, Visayas and Palawan,” he said.

If a tropical cyclone forms, it will be named Caloy.

From February to July this year, PAGASA has projected that four to 11 tropical cyclones may enter the Philippines.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies along with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms can be expected in Metro Manila and the rest of the country today due to easterlies.
