by Pia Lee-Brago · philstarMANILA, Philippines — A 16-year-old Filipino student, who was reported missing after a deadly New Year’s Eve fire in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, has been found and is now under medical care in a Zurich hospital.
An ABS-CBN report said Kean Kaizer Talingdan has been confirmed alive following the blaze at Le Constellation bar.
Kristal Talingdan, Kean’s mother, said Kean is in Zurich and is confined at the University of Zurich Hospital.
Kean traveled to Switzerland for a short holiday and was staying with a friend’s family. He was with three classmates when the fire broke out.
His father, Yohan Guiot, told the Italian newspaper Il Giorno that he received a call from his son at around 4 a.m. on Jan. 1.
Rescuers informed him that Kean sustained burns and was treated on site for nearly 45 minutes before he was rushed to the hospital.
The Italian government is coordinating with Swiss doctors for Kean’s possible transfer to Niguarda Hospital in Milan, where other victims of the fire are being treated. His transfer depends on the results of his next medical evaluation.
The fire resulted in the loss of 40 lives and injured 121.
