MANILA, Philippines — Most parts of the country may expect rainy weather this week due to three weather systems, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The easterlies will become a dominant weather system in several areas, while weather in extreme northern Luzon and southern Mindanao will be affected by the northeast monsoon and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the easterlies may prevail in the regions of Bicol and Eastern Visayas, as well as the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Aklan, Capiz, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental.

Batanes may also experience cloudy and rainy weather because of the northeast monsoon.

Fair weather with chances of rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the ITCZ may be expected in the regions of SOCCSKSARGEN and BARMM and in the provinces of Sulu and Davao Occidental, as well as in Metro Manila and the rest of the country because of the easterlies.

Despite the prediction of rains, PAGASA noted it has not monitored any low-pressure area within the Philippine area of responsibility.

It also projected moderate to strong winds and coastal waters in the northern and eastern sections of Luzon, and light to moderate winds and coastal waters for the rest of the country.
