Labour To Deliver Stronger Healthcare And Protections For Rainbow Communities

Labour will deliver a dedicated Rainbow Pae Ora health strategy to ensure rainbow communities are properly recognised in New Zealand’s health system.

“Rainbow New Zealanders deserve a health system that understands their needs and a government that stands up for their rights,” Labour Rainbow spokesperson Georgie Dansey said.

A Labour Government will:

Deliver a Rainbow Pae Ora health strategy, alongside an ethnic health strategy, ensuring the needs of rainbow communities are embedded in health system planning.
Work with rainbow communities to identify barriers to healthcare and improve access to services.
Ensure access to culturally competent care so rainbow New Zealanders can receive healthcare that respects their identities and needs.

“Rainbow New Zealanders deserve a health system that understands their needs and a government that listens to their experiences.

“Labour will deliver a Rainbow Pae Ora health strategy because rainbow communities should not have to fight to have their healthcare needs recognised.

“Access to healthcare should not depend on who you are or whether the system understands your identity.

“Rainbow communities deserve to be heard, respected and included in the decisions that affect their lives.

“Labour will stand with rainbow communities and deliver a government that works with them, not around them,” Georgie Dansey said.
