Liam Payne's girlfriend reportedly gave him an ultimatum, "me or the drugs" in the days leading up to his tragic death, according to recent reports. Liam allegedly chose drugs, prompting Kate to leave Argentina.

Following her departure Liam, 31, tragically fell from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and died from multiple traumas resulting in an "internal and external haemorrhage".

Reports in the Mirror suggest that Kate, who was on holiday with Liam in Argentina as he needed to renew his US visa, was distressed by the One Direction star's drug use, which was "causing a lot of drama" in their two-year relationship.

A source disclosed to the New York Post: "His drug use was causing a lot of drama. So she gave him an ultimatum: her or the drugs. He chose the drugs, so she had no choice but to remove herself from the situation. She thought she was doing tough love."

The couple had initially planned a brief five-day stay in Argentina, which unexpectedly extended to two weeks, a decision Kate reportedly contested. The influencer expressed her dislike for prolonged stays in one location on social media, stating her need to return to their Florida home.

The source further claimed that Kate felt like she was in a "hostage situation" as their holiday dragged on. "It was becoming very unhealthy for everyone. She hoped he would follow her back to Miami."

Two days following the devastating passing of Liam, Kate expressed her profound grief on social media with a touching tribute. The influencer opened up about the immense love she held for her late boyfriend and confessed to feeling "at a loss".

On Instagram, Kate shared: "Thank you for all of the kind words and love that has been sent my way. I have been at a complete loss. Nothing about the past few days have felt real. I ask and pray that you'll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private. Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam."

In a heartfelt statement one week after Liam's death, Kate disclosed that he had plans to propose to her before 2024 concluded. She spoke out, revealing: "I don't even know where to begin. My heart is shattered in ways I can't put into words.

"I wish you could see the huge impact you've had on the world, even as it feels so dark right now. You brought so much happiness and positivity to everyone-millions of fans, your family, friends, and especially me. You are so incredibly loved."
