Light Rain, Snow Likely in Parts of J&K Till Tuesday Morning: Weatherman

Srinagar, Dec 22: Light rain or snowfall is likely in parts of Jammu and Kashmir till Tuesday morning as a weak Western Disturbance may affect the region, the weatherman said on Monday.

The Meteorological Department said the main weather system has already moved out, but the influence of another Western Disturbance could bring light precipitation between Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning, especially in parts of north Kashmir.

Weather expert Keng said that while recent weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir have remained largely as expected, no snowfall was recorded in the plains due to relatively higher temperatures.

He said that if any precipitation occurs over the plains during the night, it could fall as snow as temperatures are likely to dip during that period.

Overall, Keng said weather models are not indicating any major or widespread precipitation across most parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

“However, due to moisture left behind by the earlier Western Disturbance, there is still a slight chance of some weather activity, particularly in the higher reaches,” he added. (KNC)
