3-Day Wet Weather to bring rain, snowfall to J&K from Nov 30: MeT
by Northlines · NorthlinesSRINAGAR, Nov 26: The Meteorological Centre has forecast a three-day wet weather event starting on November 30, which is expected to bring rain and snowfall to Jammu and Kashmir. According to the MeT office, the weather will remain generally dry until November 29, with the possibility of light rain and light snow in the higher reaches and isolated places from the evening of November 30.
The inclement weather is expected to persist through December 1 and 2, with light rain and snowfall likely across scattered to fairly widespread areas of Jammu and Kashmir. After this period, the weather will return to dry conditions until December 6, the MeT office added.
Meanwhile, cold weather conditions continue to grip the Kashmir Valley. Except for Srinagar and Kokernag, night temperatures remained below freezing at most weather stations, with hill resorts like Gulmarg and Pahalgam recording the coldest temperatures.
Gulmarg’s minimum temperature remained steady at -2.4°C for the second consecutive day, 0.5°C below the normal for this time of year. In Pahalgam, the temperature dipped further to -2.7°C, compared to -2.3°C the previous night, marking a 0.6°C deviation from the normal for the area.
Srinagar saw an improvement in its minimum temperature, recorded at 0.7°C, which was 0.6°C above normal for this time of year. Other areas, including Qazigund and Kupwara, recorded minimum temperatures of -0.8°C, while Kokernag in South Kashmir had a low of 1.8°C.
