J&K to see dry weather, isolated rain likely: MeT

Jammu Tawi, Sep 09: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness generally dry weather over the next few days, with brief spells of rain expected at isolated and scattered places, according to the Meteorological Centre, Srinagar.

The Weather Department predicted generally dry conditions from September 10 to 12, with a brief spell of rain at isolated places.

From September 13 to 16, brief spells of rain or thundershowers are likely at scattered places, particularly during the early morning and forenoon hours, it said.

The weather is expected to remain generally dry again from September 17 to 20, with brief spells of rain possible at isolated places.

The advisory comes as temperatures remain above normal at several places in the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday.

In Jammu division, Jammu recorded a maximum temperature of 33.5 degrees Celsius, while Kathua was the hottest among the listed stations at 34.4 degrees Celsius.

Katra recorded a maximum of 31 degrees Celsius, while Banihal and Batote recorded 29.7 and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The weather department recorded no significant rainfall across most stations during the 24-hour period ending Wednesday morning. The maximum rainfall was recorded at ARG Kathua at 19 mm.

Among the automated weather stations, Reasi recorded 0.5 mm of rainfall, while Udhampur received trace rainfall.

Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 31.8 degrees Celsius, which was 3.6 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature was 15.1 degrees Celsius, 0.7 degrees above normal.

Kupwara recorded a maximum of 32 degrees Celsius, 2.8 degrees above normal, while Qazigund recorded 31.2 degrees Celsius, 5 degrees above normal.

Pahalgam recorded a maximum temperature of 25.9 degrees Celsius, 1.9 degrees above normal, while Gulmarg recorded 22 degrees Celsius, 3.2 degrees above normal.

The Meteorological Centre has advised farmers to continue harvesting apples and paddy, along with other agricultural operations, during the prevailing weather conditions.

The department has also advised people to follow its latest weather updates and forecasts, particularly during the period when rain and thundershowers are expected.
