KATRA, Nov 26:  A group of students from Government Degree College (GDC) Reasi, along with faculty members Dr. Mehak and Dr. Wajahad, visited the School of Biotechnology at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) for an insightful educational tour. The visit, aimed at providing students with hands-on exposure to biotechnology labs, also introduced them to the department’s ongoing research and academic programs.

The group was warmly welcomed by Dr. Ratna Chandra, Associate Professor and Head of the School of Biotechnology, who emphasized the importance of practical learning in the biotechnology field. She expressed her enthusiasm for fostering collaborations between educational institutions to inspire students toward careers in Biosciences.

Dr. Parvez Slathia, Assistant Professor at the School of Biotechnology, coordinated the event. He briefed the students on the various undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by the department and discussed the vast career and research opportunities available within the biotechnology sector.

During the visit, students toured several labs, observing advanced equipment and ongoing research projects. This hands-on experience allowed them to gain insights into the practical applications of biotechnology and the importance of technical skills in modern scientific research.

The faculty at SMVDU expressed hope that the visit would inspire students from GDC Reasi to pursue further studies and research in biotechnology, contributing to the growth of scientific talent in the region.

Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, commended the School of Biotechnology for its efforts in building connections between the university and the local community. He encouraged more such outreach visits to engage with local colleges and inspire students in the field of science.
