SMVDU signs MoU with Tata Steel Ltd

Katra: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Steel Limited (TSL) to enhance the Academia-Industry Interface in Jammu & Kashmir. The MoU, signed by Hemant Bhargava, Chief Sales Manager (North) at TSL, and Ajay Kumar Sharma, Registrar of SMVDU, aims to foster collaboration in fields such as Architecture, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, and Energy Management.

The partnership’s goals include training professionals in emerging technologies and trends in the construction industry, alongside initiatives like curriculum development, industrial training, internships, and research. SMVDU’s School of Architecture & Landscape Design (SoALD), ranked 16th by NIRF, is poised to expand its reach in the construction sector with Tata Steel’s support. The collaboration will also focus on sustainable construction practices to enhance safe and livable environments.

The ceremony was attended by senior officials from both SMVDU and Tata Steel, including Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, and key figures from Tata Steel such as Pratima Rao, Head of Sales (North), and Rajnish Sharma, among others. This partnership is seen as a significant step towards bridging academia with industry for a more practical and forward-thinking approach to professional education and development.
