Austria defender Kevin Danso has expressed pride after featuring against the Black Stars of Ghana in an international friendly.

Danso, born in Austria to Ghanaian parents, starred for the Europeans as they annihilated the Black Stars 5-1 in Vienna on Friday evening.

Although he could not properly celebrate the victory due to his heritage, Danso explained it was a proud moment for him and his family.

"Proud day for the family. Austria, Ghana," he posted on Instagram.

Danso lasted 45 minutes before he was replaced in the second half by Philipp Lienhart in the thrilling encounter.

Meanwhile, following a quick start by the Austrians, captain Marcel Sabitzer opened the scoring after 11 minutes before Michael Gregoritsch added the second six minutes after the break.

Moments later Stefan Posch made it 3-0 but Jordan Ayew pulled one back for Ghana in the 77th minutes.

The excitement was cut short after Carney Chukwuemeka restored Austria's 3-goal lead before a last-gasp strike from Nicolas Seiwald sealed a commanding victory for the Europeans.
