AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Theory Says Doctor Doom Has Already Captured Spider-Man

Marvel fans may have figured out what happened to Spider-Man, and if this theory is right, Peter Parker has a serious Doctor Doom problem.

With Avengers: Endgame Encorearriving this past weekend, Marvel has added new footage connecting the 2019 blockbuster to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. One of those scenes has already sparked a theory that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has been captured by Doom and taken off-world.

The new footage features Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner hiding in an underground bunker following Savage Hulk’s destructive outburst in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Banner is apparently trying to keep the Hulk under control, but his hideout doesn’t stay hidden for long.

Doctor Doom finds him, infiltrates the bunker, and kidnaps Bruce. That moment caught one Marvel fan’s attention because of a visual effect that appears right before Doom takes Banner. It looks very similar to something previously seen in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day post-credits scene.

The fan explained on X: "When Doom is about to take Bruce Banner, everything suddenly starts glitching. It seems like a small visual detail, but the exact same type of glitch was already shown in the post-credit scene of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. That strongly suggests the two scenes are connected. Doom found Peter Parker."

The Brand New Day post-credits scene features Ned’s Spidey tracker following Peter as Spider-Man leaves Earth. The tracker eventually glitches before revealing Spidey landing on a mysterious planet.

That sequence originally looked like it could be pointing toward Avengers: Secret Wars, with Spider-Man potentially traveling to another universe. This new Doom theory offers another possibility. Maybe Peter didn’t make that trip willingly.

If the same glitch effect is connected to Doom’s method of taking Banner, Spider-Man could already be one of his prisoners.

Holland hasn’t officially been announced as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast, but Anthony Russo has confirmed that Marvel hasn’t revealed everyone appearing in the movie. That leaves plenty of room for Peter Parker to make a surprise appearance.

The theory gets even more interesting when looking at what Doom may be doing ahead of Doomsday. We still don’t know why he kidnaps Bruce, but the fan believes Doom "has been collecting heroes this entire time" and that Hulk might simply be the latest addition.

The Spider-Man connection is still fan speculation, but the matching glitches make it a fun theory to think about. Marvel clearly included the effect for a reason, and Doom kidnapping Banner makes Peter’s mysterious disappearance in Brand New Day look a lot more suspicious.

If Doom really has been snatching heroes before the Avengers even know what’s happening, Peter Parker may already be sitting somewhere wondering how the hell he got dragged into another multiversal disaster.
