AMC’s New UFO and Paranormal Series ARCHIVE X Gets a Chilling First Trailer

UFOs, alien abductions, telepathy, near-death experiences, prophetic dreams, and messages from beyond are all getting pulled from the archives for AMC’s latest paranormal series, and this looks like it could be a fascinating ride into the unexplained.

AMC has released the first trailer and poster for Archive X: Unexplained Phenomena, a six-part paranormal docuseries digging into strange encounters and extraordinary human experiences that continue to defy easy explanations.

I’ve always been fascinated by this stuff. UFO sightings, alien encounters, paranormal experiences, and the possibility that reality might be much stranger than we understand are subjects I can easily get lost in. So, naturally, Archive X: Unexplained Phenomena has my attention.

The series is hosted by Professor Jeffrey J. Kripal, one of the leading scholars studying extraordinary human experiences. It draws from Rice University’s Center for the Impossible, home to one of the world’s largest collections of paranormal research.

Rather than simply digging through old documents, the series brings in everyday people to share their own encounters with unexplained phenomena. Several of these individuals have never publicly discussed what happened to them before.

The trailer gives us a glimpse at the enormous collection of archival research involved, with footage and evidence tied to astral projection, hovering objects, space-time mysteries, telepathy, alien abductions, prophetic dreams, UFO encounters, near-death experiences, and possible messages from the beyond.

The stories featured in the series join an archive containing more than one million pieces of evidence collected across nearly a century. The trailer frames everything around one creepy idea: “the world is not what it seems.”

The series also examines work from Pulitzer Prize-winning Harvard psychiatrist Dr. John E. Mack and bestselling author Whitley Strieber, whose research and accounts feed into one of the show's biggest questions: What if these seemingly separate mysteries are not separate at all?

That’s the part of the premise I find especially interesting. Rather than treating UFO encounters, telepathy, near-death experiences, and other paranormal events as completely unrelated subjects, Archive X: Unexplained Phenomena is looking at whether there could be connections between them.

The series was developed by Harris Fishman and October Films Ltd. Fishman executive produces alongside Chris Muckle, Tom Thayer, Ellen Rocamora, and Mike Warner, who also serves as showrunner. Charlotte Chalker and Dan Howlett serve as story producers, while Amy Lee-Jones and Fishman direct.

Archive X: Unexplained Phenomena premieres Thursday, October 1 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on SundanceTV, AMC+, and All Reality. New episodes will debut weekly across all three platforms.
