Matthew McConaughey, Austin Butler, Pedro Pascal and Tang Wei to Star in Park Chan-wook's THE BRIGANDS OF RATTLECREEK
by Jessica Fisher · GeekTyrantOscar winner Matthew McConaughey (The Dallas Buyers Club, Interstellar), Oscar nominee Austin Butler (Elvis, The Bikeriders), Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, The Fantastic Four) and Chinese star Tang Wei (Decision to Leave, Blackhat) have signed on to star in the Western thriller The Brigands of Rattlecreek from director Park Chan-wook (No Other Choice, Oldboy, The Handmaiden).
The original screenplay is written by S. Craig Zahler (Dragged Across Concrete, Bone Tomahawk).
The Brigands of Rattlecreek is described as “an iconic tale of vengeance and retribution set in the American West.” A synopsis of the project explains:
“A capstone of the themes Park Chan-wook has plumbed across his entire body of work to date, the film is an emotionally explosive and visually stunning meditation on the consequences of violence, the value of family, the power of memory, and the true cost of life.”
The film, which first appeared on the Black List in 2006, is a passion project for Park Chan-wook, and it’s set to hit the market at the Cannes Film Festival, where the director is set to preside over the competition jury.
