NAL foundational President, Bamgbose is dead

The foundational President of Nigerian Academy of Letters, NAL, Professor Ayo Bamgbose is dead.

DAILY POST gathered that the foremost African linguist died in the early hours of Saturday.

Our correspondent gathered that the emeritus professor died at the age of 94.

The deceased lectured for many years at the University of Ibadan before his retirement.

He also served as Dean of Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan from 1971 to 1973.

Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, confirmed the death of the deceased.

Adebowale, in a statement, said, “The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, on behalf of the University of Ibadan Community, has commiserated with the family, friends and the intellectual community he left behind”.
